Where to Stay in Albufeira

Guide to the best hotels and best areas to stay in Albufeira and hotel booking tips

View over the Old Town of Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal

As a major tourist destination, Albufeira has all kinds of accommodation, from budget-friendly hostels to some of the most luxurious hotels in all of Portugal, and from small boutique hotels to large resorts.

The Best Area to Stay in Albufeira

The best hotels and resorts are by the beaches outside the center, but since there are also beaches by the Old Town, many people choose to stay in this part of the city. The center, or Old Town, also has the advantage of having the biggest variety of restaurants and bars, and of being close to the train and bus stations.
If you’re really interested in experiencing the nightlife and want to make sure your bed is nearby after the bar hopping, you should look for accommodation in the district of Oura.
If you want to splurge or impress someone, the most luxurious properties are by Praia da Falésia and Praia dos Salgados. Falésia is better for couples, while Salgados caters more to families.

Booking Hotels in Albufeira

High season is between July and mid-September, so that’s when you can expect prices to go up. Keep in mind that everything becomes fully booked for that time early in the year, so make sure you book well in advance. When booking, remember that rates depend on the month/season, the size of the room, the view, and whether it includes breakfast (it usually does, but you should always check that). Local authorities are very strict, so even budget accommodation is clean and with decent facilities.
